Friends vs How I Met Your Mother

First off, I used to watch Friends years ago but then got completely sick of it and actively avoid it these days.
My current gf introduced me to How I Met Your Mother. It had that guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I Love You, Man so I said i'd give it a go.

It started off well. I thought Barney was cool too. However, after I watched more episodes it began to annoy me! I started gettin really annoyed by Ted being such a wuss and Lily being...well, just annoying. This got me thinking, the reason I hated friends was coz of some pretty similar reasons! I thought Ross was a wuss, Phoebe was annoying, and Joey was pretty cool!

So, this is my attempt at proving that Friends and How I Met Your Mother are pretty much the same thing, with different characters!! Obviously theres a different number of characters so their personality traits have had to be spread out among the lesser number in HIMYM.

So as you can see, they're basically written from the same template, only HIMYM doesnt have kids reproducing catchphrases everywhere ya go, like when Friends was popular!

Can't stand Friends.
HIMYM is far better written and acted.
Friends at times I tried to watch it was the same will he/won't she tired, same old crap going around in circles all the time.
HIMYM was/is at least fresher and continues on in a story line. Friends got boring and tired.

ams, Phoebe has been amalgamated into Lily, with some crossover into Robin. Plus, I despise that character so much I didn't think it warranted a mention!! :p

biggins, I'd agree about the active plot/storyline that HIMYM has. It keeps it on an actual track, with progress made in each few episodes. Friends was a nightmare. Tried to be like Seinfeld with no "destination", just a loada people sitting around talking. It works for some programmes, like Seinfeld, or The Simpsons (+ every other cartoon) and Friends still has lots of fans, but 99% of them are (ex)teenage girls!!

I think Friends is much better than How i met your mother.I Like Friends so much.I watch both tv shows but Friends is best among them.It is a story of some friends which is very interesting.

Well both are fantastic TV shows but I would like to prefer "Friends" TV show. Because this is my favorite one show. Still I have watched 4 season and many episodes of this show.

obviously,friends is better,even how i met your mother is AWESOME!! but friends is something totally different,even years after the series ended people still watch it.I never get tired of watching friends,i might have watched most of the episodes more than 10 times.the characters of friends are vintage and how they have effected us,be honest guys,all of you must have tried "How you doin'!" on someone HIMYM is the next best thing for sure!

Friends has started to come back on TV more often now, since the Comedy Channel has bought it off Channel 4. Except this time its in HD.

Time to figure out when THOSE Rachel scenes are on.....

Both tv show are good but friends tv show is my one of favorite show...i watched all episodes
