best pubs in Ireland

Post by amsroks »

I always freeze when people ask me where to go out coz I'm afraid i'll say somewhere where that particular person will hate so maybe this thread should mention your favourite beverage haunts and even places you hated (and why....)

Lanigans
I like this place because you are guaranteed to run into someone from work and there is always a good atmosphere, only bad thing is it closes quite early!!

The Barge on the Grand Canal in Dublin.

I've come back with a list!!!

For anyone visiting Dublin anyway, here's a list of some of the best pubs in Dublin in no particular order:
Kehoe's on South Anne St
Toners Merrion Row/Baggot St area
Stag's Head at Dame Lane
Grogan's on William St
O'Donoghues,
McDaids,
Mulligans on Poolbeg St - supposedly has the best Guinness in ireland.
Foggy Dew, Temple Bar
Bruxelles, off Grafton St
Long Hall
Hartigans
O Briens (Leeson Street)
The Sackville
Dice Bar
The Cobblestone
The Lord Edward
The Ha' penny Inn
The Celt, Lower Abbey St - Live Music
Fallons on Dean street, Good Guinness
The Thomas House. Rock bar with gigs.
Dawson Lounge on Dawson Street
Slattery's in Rathmines
The Strand house at the 5 lamps on the North Strand. Traditional irish!
The Bachelor Inn on Bachelors Walk - Traditional Irish
Ryan on Queen St.
The Palace on Fleet Street
Cassidys on Wexford street
Nealons on Capel Street
Devitts on Camden street - Trad music friday night
The Swan - Camden Street

I compiled this list from other sources. Definitely has the makings of a pub crawl in it, I think!!

Wow, I'm surprised you've never been to Kehoes, Grogans, or Bruxelles!! You've been living in Dublin about a year now!!

I was actually thinking of compiling a list of these for an app. Like a Pub Crawl generator! What ya reckon?

There's a good app made by a startup company in Dublin called GreatNite. Its pretty buggy, surprisingly, but its worth a look (until I make my one).

that would actually be really popular coming up to Christmas, especially if people were able to unselect pubs they've been to before....
would you have to get pubs permission or anything like that?

year and a half actually, always seem to go to same places but have work Christmas pub crawl in week and a half so maybe might be able to tick more pubs off my list then...provided I survive the ordeal.. I lost my wallet at last years one :(
