Lotto Helper IE

*IRISH LOTTO & EUROMILLIONS ONLY*
Using a frequency based algorithm, this app displays the most common numbers that have come up in Ireland's National Lottery since 1988, as well as the Euromillions since its began!
This app will display the top 6 numbers for both draws. The raw data can be found in the "stats" screen (Menu->stats). To get the latest numbers, press the "Update" button. On first load, you will need to press the "Update" button to download the numbers. You will need an internet connection each time you want to download the latest data.
The numbers are usually updated within an hour of each draw so will always be up-to-date by the time you go to purchase your next lottery ticket.
NOTE: NUMBERS ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO COME UP. FOR STATISTICAL PURPOSES ONLY!

Ye, I wanted this to appear on top all the time, so I removed them. You can still acccess them either in the small blue box above the forum box, or theres a "new posts" button on the right below your avatar.

I might edit the PHP of the template and put the new posts below this, so then it'll still be on top.

This app is going well anyway. Nearly 500 downloads, and growing every day!

Same as always.
I've a list of all the results of the lotto since 1987, as well as all the euromillions since it started. So I go through all them and count the amount of times a number appears. Then I sort them, and when you click the "Update" button in the app, it downloads the latest numbers.

The numbers are updated usually within an hour of each draw.

I was thinking about this lately (after I got the same guy for Kris Kindle 2 years in a row when there was like 40 doing it)
and theoretically they all have an equal probability of coming up
The draws theoretically have no memory of any previous draws
So maybe you should give the customer of the app the choice in what way the numbers are selected?

Also I was reading something lately that if you are choosing numbers you are better off choosing "higher" numbers like over 30 because people have a tendency to pick numbers based on birthdays, months etc. So if you pick lower numbers and you do win you'll end up having to share the jackpot with loads of people...which is money none the less but kind of ruins the appeal of doing the lotto....

If a choice was given as to what way the numbers were selected, then how would that differ to having a screen with 48 numbers on it, and have the user click any 6?
I think the ultimate goal is to make a more advanced version, whereby it would give some seriously detailed stats, as well as the ability to add weighting to certain numbers, eg birthdays, anniversarys etc, and maybe count them double so they appear higher on the list. Then instead of pickign the top 6, pick a random 6 from a user specified amount, eg a random 6 from the top 10 numbers.

Haha and on the point of picking the higher numbers, i think ur last line is the important one. Any money is better than nothing!! This app usually gets enough winnings for a free ticket most weeks so its basically a free play. I'd typically pick these numbers, and do another cupla lines to try get the jackpot. At least that way, i've a huge possibility of at least getting me money back!

yeah I know but my dad had 5 numbers and the bonus one week and only got 350 quid (it was the week the numbers that came up were 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and can't remember the rest!!) but anyway this gives evidence to my statement above, like how annoyed would you be when you're so close to winning with so many numbers and you only get 350?! Normally you'd get 25k+!
